This 2-day course takes a comprehensive look at the application of electrophysiological techniques to assess complex adult and paediatric patients. Electrophysiology provides the clinician with the ability to test the function of the entire auditory pathway. The most common use is the auditory assessment of infants; however, these tests take on an important role in older patients, when traditional behavioural assessment either cannot be performed or the validity of the results is in doubt.
A range of techniques will be discussed, each adding a unique insight into the functioning of the auditory pathway. Thinking outside of the box will be encouraged, which will help delegates think more clearly about appropriate test selection and diagnosis.
Jason Smalley, Head of Service, Nottingham University Hospitals, will be an external speaker on the course.
