This 3 day course is designed to deliver the foundation of knowledge needed to conduct the assessment of the dizzy patient. Through theory and practical workshops the performance of vestibular assessments will be applied to clinical practice. On completion participants will have an understanding of vestibular disorders, their descriptions and understand the technologies to locate, identify and recognise vestibular dysfunction. The emphasis of this course is on small group work to ensure maximum learning opportunities for all participants. As such places are limited and early booking is recommended.

How experienced do I need to be to attend this course?

This course is intended for all practitioners who either currently see patients with dizziness or intended to develop in this area. For more experienced practitioners, this course will bring together the diagnostics tools for vestibular assessment into a clinical context. This will allow discussion around the most effective methods and strategies for efficient clinical time when assessing dizzy patients.

I would like to start introducing vHIT and VEMP into my clinic, will this course help me do that?

The purpose of this course it to provide a comprehensive overview of the technological solutions available for vestibular assessment. This will include the integration of traditional vestibular testing such as Caloric assessment, with newer solutions of vHIT and VEMP as part of the comprehensive diagnostic’s vestibular investigation.

There are a lot of questions on whether we should still be doing Calorics, will this be covered?

Caloric assessment has been a long-standing method of assessing ear specific vestibular function but has more recently been challenged by newer technologies of vestibular assessment such as vHIT. This course will provide a clinical backdrop to how vestibular assessment tools can be incorporated into modern dizzy clinics, focusing on the advantages of each assessment option in formulating and utilising the best clinical investigation strategy.
