Introduction to Aided Cortical Testing

  • Event Location: Interacoustics Clinic Birmingham
  • Date: 5th December 2024
  • Fee: £250 (plus VAT)

This course will explore our new Aided Cortical test, an evoked potential test which can be performed in children as young as 3 months of age.  Testing set up, patient preparation, response interpretation and testing strategy will be explored in this course. Interactive case studies will investigate the management options for different clinical scenarios. A practical demonstration will allow you to see the Aided Cortical test in action.

Establishing aided benefit (or the lack of it) is a vital part of the patient pathway.  It helps to ensure appropriate amplification is being provided to support speech and language development and ensures the patients are getting the most out of their devices.

Aided testing often isn’t performed until the patient can perform VRA, and even then, is often deprioritised in favour of traditional threshold testing. As a result, there can be long gaps between newborn diagnostic testing and the point at which aided benefit is established. Our new test changes all of this.
