13 July 2021

Welcome to Darren’s blog. We hope you find the information here informative and useful.

Many of you might be wondering “Who is Darren and what is his blog all about”

Hopefully this will help:

Darren (Whelan) holds an undergraduate degree in Audiology from the University of Leeds and has a joint master’s degree with distinction, in health science, neurophysiology and clinical research. Before joining Interacoustics he held several senior clinical positions in the NHS in clinical and research healthcare scientist roles. He has worked with audiologists and ENT surgeons. His most recent NHS role was as Head of Vestibular Assessment and Vestibular Rehabilitation/Retraining at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Darren joined the Interacoustics Academy in 2017 as an International Clinical Trainer and has presented at many scientific conferences and meeting across the globe.

Darren joined the Interacoustics UK team in 2020 as our Clinical and research Manager. Changes in the world of hearing and balance are happening at pace and are often complex and time-consuming to digest and that’s where Darren comes in. He is here to make the complex comprehendible and will provide bite-sized information and analysis on the latest developments and “hot topics” in his blogs. If there is anything specific you want him to cover just let us know by emailing him at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

In addition to writing his blogs Darren is also responsible for running our UK User Groups and Training courses, our “how to” videos and bespoke training courses. If you want to find our more just drop him a quick email and he will be happy to get back in touch with you.
